Michael Pachla: Filling out the Sabres 2019 NHL Draft, Day-2 Sabres do some trading, move up twice to select a goalie and three wingers

I look at the last trade we did, as small as it was, that botts is still very much learning.

He moved 177 and 191 for pick 143.

10 picks later Sam Jose traded 211 and a future 7th for 153.

I know it's a small trade, but he overpaid.

He seems to overvalue who he wants to draft. Reports during the 2017 draft and this draft were he wanted to move up in the first, while both times the player he wanted fell to him.

I'm scared to think what he was willing to give to move up a few slots.

Quality over quantity in the later rounds. I like the approach.

Will see what happens but I think botts will Feel the pressure and he might do something that many of us won’t like

I just noticed Cozens didn't have his name on his jersey on draft night like other teams did for their players. They weren't sure who they would pick. Montreal picked Caufield at 15 and had a jersey with his name on it.

Couldn't they print out a few just to make sure they did it right?

I’ve been if he mind set that our scouts are in need of an upgrade. We have drafted worse than any team in the past 10 years IMO, especially in the top 60

JB's made sweeping changes to the scouting department. If anyone wants to grill him for this draft, that's a bit harsh.
